Project Overview
The Dreaming Portal is an immersive exploration of Aboriginal cosmology, presented through an episodic AR/VR experience. The project merges storytelling with cutting-edge interactive technology to illuminate the multidimensional perspectives of Aboriginal culture.
The story follows a young protagonist who becomes lost during a hunt, venturing far from familiar territory and into the unknown. As they journey through vast, uncharted landscapes, they encounter ancestral spirits, sacred beings, and echoes of long-forgotten stories woven into the land.
Throughout the journey, the protagonist learns to navigate not only the physical terrain but also the spiritual and symbolic dimensions that shape reality. The climax reveals that the spirits encountered are active participants in an ancestral conflict, resonating through time.
Format & Distribution
Combining live-action elements with AI and Unreal Engine, this episodic AR/VR experience will be available on-site in museums and distributed to schools and communities through various VR/AR platforms, ensuring broad accessibility.
The viewer will explore different regions of Australia and key moments in Aboriginal culture, uncovering long-forgotten aspects of Aboriginal life. The project offers an inclusive and respectful lens through which to understand how Aboriginal culture connects with the earth and the cosmos—uniting land, spirit, and self.
Research & Development
Our team is engaged in extensive cultural consultation with Aboriginal Elders and knowledge holders to ensure cultural authenticity. We are establishing ethical storytelling practices and conducting field research with on-country experiences.
The narrative development explores fundamental concepts such as Dreaming, multidimensional thinking, and ancestral connections. We're creating an episodic structure that explores pivotal moments in Aboriginal culture, integrating Indigenous language and symbolism to enhance immersion and authenticity.
